Principal’s Message

Welcome to St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Daceyville website. By exploring these pages you will preview our vibrant and contemporary Catholic learning community. Should you wish to experience the school in depth, please email the school through info@stmdaceyville.catholic.edu.au or call (02) 9344 8512 to make a booking to join one of our many learning walks throughout the year.

St Michael’s is a co-educational primary school in a peaceful, parkland setting. We welcome enrolments from families working in many of the local institutions – UNSW, Prince of Wales Hospital, Westfield Eastgardens and the Sydney Airport.

St Michael’s is committed to promoting the good in every child and supporting their development as a whole person, assisting them to grow intellectually, spiritually, socially and emotionally.

St Michael’s pastoral care programs focus on building relationships across the community and helping students to communicate openly, solve problems and become more resilient.

St Michael’s is on the cusp of a new era as it expands into a double-stream school. A significant part of this development is the new architecturally designed learning spaces, ready to prepare your child for the future

Mr Geoffrey Carey
Principal

History
The school was established in 1914 and staffed by the daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and joined the newly formed St Michael’s Daceyville Parish in 1924. In 1939, a new school was constructed which forms the basic fabric of our main building today. In 1992, the leadership of the school was handed to the Marist Brothers. They nurtured in us the love of Mary as a role model, encouraging us to be open to God’s calling. From 2006, the lay leadership of the school has been appointed by Sydney Catholic Schools.

Charism
At St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Daceyville, we continue the ministry of Jesus through the charism and traditions given to us by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Our community draws its inspiration from the vision Father Jules Chevalier had for us, to make the Sacred Heart of Jesus known and loved everywhere. For our school community, this means to touch the hearts of others.

Vision
By knowing, loving and following Jesus our learning community will nurture curiosity, ignite imagination and empower innovation for a sustainable and hope-filled future.

Mission
Challenged and inspired by our rich history and the contributions of the OLSH Sisters and Marist Brothers, at St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Daceyville, we are a community committed to making Jesus known and loved by:

  • Promoting a faith-filled and caring culture
  • Providing a dynamic and inclusive learning community
  • Working together in service to make a difference in our world.

Motto
Love, learn and dream.

St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Daceyville works closely with our parish to enrich the spiritual life of the students, staff and families of our school. Through the sacramental programs for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation, the children are given opportunities to develop their sense of belonging and deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.  There are opportunities for children and families to attend whole school Masses for various community events and Feast Days, Class Masses and Family Parish Masses throughout the term.

Our parish priest, Rev. Fr Phan Nguyen, works in partnership with the school by regularly visiting the classes and holding Reconciliation.  The school works with the parish to support students and their families in their faith journey.
