We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Children learn best when parents and teachers work together in partnership, and when they share the responsibility for this partnership. Here at St Michael’s, Catholic Primary School Daceyville parents are actively encouraged to become involved in all aspects of their children’s education.
Communication
The Compass Parent Portal is the primary means for written communications between home and school. Through this online app, parents can access news feeds (messages) and the school newsletter. Parents can also monitor their child’s attendance, access the school calendar, information about school events, school reports and book parent-teacher interviews. We also encourage parents to engage with school teachers and staff through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, emails and written notes.
Parents and Friends Association
P&F Meetings are held once a term to discuss a broad range of initiatives. The P&F organises parent representatives from each class to act as Class Parents, who communicate important school and P&F information to other parents in the class and help to coordinate fundraising and social events. The P&F also runs the school canteen and secondhand uniform shop.
Before and After School Care
Before and after school care is provided onsite at St Michael’s by Sydney Catholic Early Childhood Services (SCECS), a not-for-profit organisation that provides quality education and care programs with qualified and passionate educators. SCECS can be phoned on (02) 9568 8628 between the hours of 8am to 5pm (Monday to Friday). Alternatively, email scecs@syd.catholic.edu.au.
